Top Donji Lapac Hotel Reviews

House Rustico

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent all around"

Hotel Jezero Plitvice Lakes

10/10 Excellent

"Staff was very helpful. Room was nice, beds comfortable. Great place to stay, so convenient to visit the lake. Breakfast and dinner was good. Liked that we got a second day stamped by the hotel for our second day visit. Had all the toiletries needed . Hotel bar and the patio bar were good."

Plitvice Green Valley

8/10 Good

"This was a lovely location and the family running it was friendly. Appreciated that the parking was organized by room to ensure everyone had a spot. Most unfortunately you had to pay cash if paying at the property which we did not realize in advance. This left us scrambling as we do not travel with a large amount of cash. Be aware of this when booking or you may have to pay expensive ATM fees. There were also additional rules around food in the room that we did not see on the “House rules” section of their website but that were posted at the property, something to keep in mind as well. The property is small and cozy, which does leave you at the mercy of the other guests around you if they are noisy which was unfortunately the case for us. In the future the property owners said we should have called them and would recommend doing that if you have a similar experience."

Rustic Lodge Plitvice

10/10 Excellent

"Our room at the Rustic Lodge Plitvice Lakes was so cute and so…rustic! We loved it! Staff were all so friendly and provided excellent hiking advise for Plitvice Lakes National Park. We ate dinner and breakfast there. I had the rustic burger for dinner. They provided gloves to eat it, as it was so juicy and messy! Highly recommend staying here especially if you plan to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park. It’s 7 minutes by car!"

Plitvica Lodge

10/10 Excellent

"Everything was great. Clean comfortable room, helpful staff and communications in the Expedia app, good food. It would have been helpful to know that extras, like meals and transports need to be paid in cash."

Plitvica Villa Prica

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent Breakfast included. Room was fabulous, large & comfortable. Walking distance to gate 3 for National Park. We dined in the evening as well, they had a good menu with great prices & wine."

Lyra Hotel Plitvice

10/10 Excellent

"I am picky about hotels but this was good. Plus, there is nothing comparable in the area. It's either camping or motels so this is a no brainer! I wish the pool was heated but the rooms are spacious and staff was wonderful. Breakfast int he morning was perfect!"

Hotel Palcich

10/10 Excellent

"Hotel is a great find in the Plitvice lakes area. It is modern, clean and feels Nordic. There is an indoor pool and small gym. It is a 10 minute ride to the park and cost 20 euros each way. It also included a fantastic buffet breakfast. They also have a restaurant on site for dinner which was basic. This hotel is a great value."

Fenomen Plitvice

8/10 Good

"Probably the best in the area."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Donji Lapac?

The best area to stay in Donji Lapac is generally the village centre itself, as it offers the most convenience and access to local amenities.Donji Lapac is a small, quiet village in the Lika region of Croatia. The central area is characterised by its main street, which features a few local shops, a small market, and a couple of traditional eateries. It's a very compact area, making it easy to navigate on foot. You'll find the local church and community buildings here, giving it a modest, authentic feel. For travellers seeking a tranquil escape and a base for exploring the natural beauty of the Lika region, staying in the village centre is ideal. It provides easy access to the surrounding countryside for activities like hiking and cycling, and you're never far from essential services.

When is the best time to go to Donji Lapac?

The best time to visit Donji Lapac is generally during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the natural surroundings are at their most appealing.During late spring, the landscape is lush and green, and the temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is excellent for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the nearby Uvac River canyon without the intense heat of summer. It's also a great time to see the local flora in bloom.Early autumn offers similarly comfortable temperatures, usually between 10°C and 20°C, and the changing colours of the leaves create a picturesque backdrop. This season is ideal for those who enjoy photography or prefer a quieter experience, as the peak summer crowds have dispersed.
